Long-range missions require motors that convert watts to thrust as efficiently as possible. Larger stator volumes (22–28mm) wound to lower KV (900–1700) swing bigger props at lower RPM — the single biggest driver of efficiency gains. Thermal stability matters too: motors running 60–80% throttle for 20+ minutes need generous copper fill and strong airflow management.
Long-range efficiency is dominated by the motor-prop system — lower KV motors swing bigger props with far higher grams-per-watt efficiency.
