ARIADNE-L
Lightweight Flight Controller for Small UAVs
The ARIADNE-L is TH3SEUS's lightweight flight controller designed specifically for small UAV platforms where weight and size are critical constraints. It is based on the Pixhawk open hardware standard and runs PX4 or ArduPilot firmware.
Built around the powerful STM32F427 processor running at 168MHz, the ARIADNE-L delivers exceptional computational performance in a compact 50x30mm form factor. The board features 256KB of RAM and 2MB of flash storage, with an additional 1Mbit FRAM for reliable parameter storage with unlimited write cycles.
The ARIADNE-L incorporates a dual-redundant IMU architecture using the ICM-42670-P as the primary inertial sensor and ICM-20689 as secondary, providing automatic failover capability for mission-critical applications. Environmental sensing is handled by the BMP388 barometer offering 0.1m altitude resolution, complemented by the LIS3MDL 3-axis magnetometer for accurate heading information.
Designed for researchers, professional developers, and commercial operators, the ARIADNE-L offers a balance of performance, reliability, and integration simplicity that makes it ideal for mapping drones, inspection platforms, and lightweight delivery systems.
Key Design Points
- •Dual-core architecture with dedicated I/O co-processor (STM32F103) ensures reliable PWM output even during high CPU load
- •Ultra-compact form factor (50x30mm) with standard 30.5mm mounting pattern fits space-constrained airframes
- •Dual redundant IMU with vibration-isolated mounting for reliable attitude estimation in high-vibration environments
- •Triple power input with automatic failover and comprehensive protection (overvoltage, reverse polarity, overcurrent)
- •RF-grade 6-layer PCB design with isolated power domains minimizes sensor noise and electromagnetic interference
- •Full compatibility with Pixhawk ecosystem peripherals via JST-GH locking connectors
